This platform serves as the central information hub for the ongoing preparatory study and impact assessment supporting potential ecodesign requirements for furniture under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), alongside the revision of the EU Ecolabel criteria for furniture.
The project aims to assess the environmental impacts of furniture across its life cycle and identify policy options to improve product sustainability, including durability, reparability, recyclability and material efficiency.
This website also functions as the dedicated online platform for stakeholders interested in the revision of the EU Ecolabel criteria for furniture. Stakeholders are invited to follow project developments and actively contribute to the process.

First ESPR Preparatory Study Stakeholder Meeting scheduled for 6 October 2026
The first stakeholder meeting of the ESPR Preparatory Study on Furniture will take place on 6 October 2026, from approximately 9:00 to 16:00 CEST, in Brussels at the Conference Centre Albert Borschette (CCAB), with the option to participate online via Microsoft Teams.
Registration is now open for both in-person and online participation via this link and will remain open until 20 September 2026. Depending on the available capacity and number of registrations, participation may be limited, particularly for in-person attendance. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and limits may also be applied to the number of participants per organisation to ensure broad stakeholder participation.
Further details, including the agenda and draft MEErP Tasks 1-4 report, will be shared with registered participants two weeks ahead of the meeting.
